Auxiliary package jig / coordinate grinding
Two in one
New auxiliary package „jig / coordinate grinding." allows hydrostatic milling and grinding on one machine.
Amongst machine manufacturers hydrostatic systems designed for axes and drives are rated as the finest technology. We demonstrate the enormous potential of this technology. Our latest release from our engineering department is the "coordinate/jig grinding" package as a retrofit option for the KERN Pyramid Nano. A complete high speed milling and jig grinding process in one clamping is now possible. Not only the moulding manufacturers but also manufacturers of deep draw-, stamping-, embossing and coining tools as well as high accuracy machining of hard and brittle material such as ceramics, glass, sinter materials, silica, corundum etc. are applications for this technology.
For both machining requirements the hydrostatic offers the ideal technology. As the hydrostatic drives and axways posses no mechanical contact and thus zero mechanical friction, unwanted effects such as the slip stick, also known as back lash and resultant vibrations are eliminated. Thereby the smallest movements are now possible without jerk. Defined movements of 0,1µm are now repeatedly possible and unbelievable surface finishes of Ra less than 0.05µm i.e 50nm are now achievable via milling or grinding. Also the contour accuracy is remarkable. Core hole jig boring with a repeatable roundness of 1µm or the seat- grinding with repeatable contour accuracies of 0,5µm have been proven. The auxiliary package "coordinate/jig grinding" consists of a dresser spindle, an ultrasonic tool zeroing-touch probe and a special parameter set which allows an independent Z-axis movement. A tool changer with a capacity of up to 96 positions as well as the versatile internal or external automated pallet changers create a highly productive and flexible machining cell. The KERN Pyramid Nano with the "jig/coordinate grinding" package reduces the investment expenses of two procedures on one machine. "Two in one" will be interesting for customers who can not fully utilize the capacity of a jig grinding machine, or that require the increased accuracy by having only one set up and one clamping for both operations.
