History

Future has Tradition

In 1962 Kurt Kern founded the company KURT KERN Feinwerktechnik in Munich and establishes himself as a strong supplier to the rapidly increasing High-Tech-Industry for highest precision components.
Kurt hands over the reigns to his son Günter in 1981, at which time IBM challenges KERN with an application that leads the company to its technical boundaries.  There was simply no machine on the market that could fulfil the precision accuracies required for this job.

"Nothing is impossible"

Instead of declining the contract job from IBM, Günter develops his own machine – the cornerstone for the success story of KERN Machinebuilding has been set. The contract manufacturing also profits form this technology: Thanks to their own machines KERN develops to a specialist from the high precision manufacturing into the Nano tech territory.

Moving south

In 1987 the entrepreneur founds KERN Microtechnik in Murnau, in 1992 both companies are merged to form KERN Micro- und Feinwerktechnik GmbH & Co.KG. In 1999 a second extension is buit to increase capacity. 2007 the Machine Building faculty moves into a spacious facility in Eschenlohe to increase the floor space and increase capacity.
